Fixing a broken world
Starting Ability scores: 16 14 14 12 12 10 arranged to taste.
Races: PHB races are automatically ok, everything else is ask first. The higher it’s level adjustment the more you better be prepared to justify it to me. Under no circumstances will I ok any race/template that makes you an Outsider, so don’t bother asking.
Alignment: Absolutely no evil, try to avoid the ’I’m only neutral because we can’t be evil’ mentality as well.
Classes: PHB, PHB2 and Complete Series classes are ok. Everything else is ask first. Prestige classes are also ask first (Some of them don’t exist in the world). You may take prestige classes on both ‘sides’ simultaneously.
Feats: You gain feats at every odd level (1 3 5 etc) instead of every 3 levels
Banned Stuff: Absolutely no Mordenkainen’s Disjunction under any circumstances, Wizards may not discover this spell through study, sorcerer’s may not choose it as a spell known, artificers may not craft scrolls or staffs of it. Divine Metamage when used in conjunction with Persistent Spell. You may still have Divine Metamagic or Persistent spell or both, but you may not choose DMM for Persistent Spell. Night Sticks are unavailable to starting PCs but may be found later in game.
Books: Any 3.5 book is ok, 3.0 books that have not been updated are not approved but if you have a specific thing you want from a book (Say a feat or a spell) then talk to me and we’ll work something out. Book of Vile Darkness and Exemplars of Evil are (for obvious reasons) not allowed to PCs. Book of Exalted Deeds will be allowed but if you don’t roleplay the connection to Good, than it will be taken away.
Starting Level: 13th.
Starting Wealth: Standard 13th level starting weatlh (Pg 135 of the DMG) as well as a silver ring set with black onyx. The ring does not radiate an aura of magic, but defies all attempts to remove it.
Item limitations: No tomes that grant a bonus to ability scores. No items that allow the storing of memories. There are no Cowls of Warding or Vests of the Archmagi in the world at all. No items that allow Planar Travel during character creation (items may be found/crafted later to allow planar travel)
In the interest of promoting teamwork instead of an every man for himself attitude, I will award Hero Points for truly great roleplaying or teamwork. You may have no more than 5 hero points at one time. Any time you are required to make an attack roll or a saving throw, you may spend a hero point to automatically succeed, even if you have already rolled a d20. In the case of an attack it is not considered a potential critical.
If you roll a 1 on an attack roll it is an automatic miss, but it is not a potential fumble and will not negate your attacks for the rest of the round.
If you roll a 20 on an attack roll, followed by a second 20 followed by a confirmed hit, the creature you are attacking is instantly slain (or destroyed in the case of an Undead or construct).
PS: Bender, the game will be gestalt.
